Mulled Wine – For The Warmest of Welcomes At Christmas
When the weather is wet and windy and the nights are long and dark or if your Christmas shopping trip was particularly arduous, we highly recommend putting your feet up and settling down by the fire with a steaming mug of mulled wine. The Ingredients: You will need -
• One Whole Orange • 60g of demerara sugar • One cinnamon stick
• One bay leaf • A dash of sloe gin • A pinch of nutmeg
Add the bottle of wine to a pan and gradually warm it up; try not to boil it, though. Slice the orange in half and add the halves to the wine in the pan. Pop in the sugar along with the cinnamon stick and the bay leaf. Next add in the dash of sloe gin and the pinch of grated nutmeg. Heat the mixture gently until the sugar dissolves and then sieve into heat proof glasses. That's it! It's that simple!
